Not a lot of crafting going on this week. I sew up this quilt along block. It’s called Martha Washington Star from week 10. I also made a bloomer shorts from another Oliver + S pattern. The top will made too, sometime… I already read the instruction and it seems pretty complicated so I will save that for another day.
Right now, I need to make a few quick baby gifts. I plan to make some kimono wraps, add some toys that I already bought and send it off to Texas to my cousin’s new baby. I’m caught a little off guard because the baby is supposed to appear sometime in August! Some more kimono wraps is going to New Hampshire and right here in Columbus. But they’re not due until October and November, so I don’t really have to make it in a hurry.
I also cast on a new knitting project, it would be fall/spring double breasted jacket for Abby in dark blue Cascade 220 from a pattern in this book. It’s got a lovely textured weave stitch. I’m half finished with the backside.
What has been going in a lot this week is house hunting and driver’s license renewal. Since I’m not a citizen and have an out of state license, I have to take the written exam. I barely passed, making 7 mistakes! Then the lady said that I can only get a new driver’s license until October because that’s what my papers said. This lead to a lot of emails with our lawyer and finally I got a new driver’s license that’s good until 2011. I drove 35 minutes to the downtown office and they process it right away without any questions or strange requests. Apparently it’s better to go to the central office, instead of going to the small local branch where they’re not used to processing a non-citizen. They’re also a lot friendlier too and less gossip-y.
The plan for weekend is more house hunting!

your block is beautiful! I can’t wait to see the double breasted knit jacket.
