I’ve decided to take on hand-piecing using my scraps only. The target? Just something doll quilt size. Then we’ll see again if I’m up for a bigger quilt. The hexagons are each about 2.5″ tall and I plan to use my pink, yellow, and orange scraps. I’m using quilt patis for the base of the [...]

I made this in one day! That’s an accomplishment I tell you, considering the toddler here. I do miss the all day sewing marathon, no toddler caring involved. It’s Elizabeth’s project for Sew Mama Sew. I know it’s dangerous to tempt a toddler with a hanging pocket filled with a scissor, seam ripper, and pins [...]

Have you seen Heather Ross’ new book? A really great book that you’ll want to make almost every project in it. One thing that’s been stopping me from sewing the adult clothes is the upcoming big belly. You certainly can’t make a shirt dress or a wrap skirt, right? So it’s Abigail that’s getting something [...]

:: Went to fabric shop. Got some Kona Cotton for my SewConnected month. Also got some Katie Jump Rope fabrics because they’re on sale.
:: Sewed a baby wrap dress for a birthday [...]

Audrey sent some fabric combo in reds, pinks, and greens and requested a wonky log cabin. I never made a wonky log cabin before, not even a normal one. I can’t believe I never tried it before. Completely easy and you’ll never get two exact blocks.

Made from this pattern although I didn’t use as much fabric. I didn’t buy enough yardage so the big log cabin around the cheater cloth is in a patchy spirit. And this is the biggest quilt I made on my humble Singer, 62 by 70! I can feel the machine’s pain as much as my [...]
elephant blobs

I signed up for the mobile swap awhile ago and didn’t have any inspiration until the last days until I saw this tutorial. I worked on it last night and I love it. The blobs are Alexander Henry’s elephant fabric, mixed with some felt balls, and tied to an embroidery hoop with red perle cotton. [...]
