The winner of Amy Butler charm pack is ritainalaska! I’ll shoot you an email ASAP, Rita!

Kari M. of Craftinomicon! I will send you an email, Kari and send it out as soon as possible!

Thank you to everyone who entered the giveaway. I’m happy to know that most of you have so many handmades for Christmas. Go handmade!! As for me, I’m only making a Waldorf doll for my daughter and if I still have the time, a dinosaur stuffie for my boy. Yes, a barely minimum amount of handmades, which is highly achievable right now.

Well, no matter how many gifgts you manage to make yourself, Merry Christmas!

Welcome to my blog! I’m giving away a copy of Modern Blocks book (which I contributed to). The publisher was kind enough to send me two copies, so the extra is for you!

For those of you whose never been here before, I am Amanda, quilty mom of two living in Ohio. Other than quilting, I also love to knit, make clothes and bags, and Blythe dolls! Right now, I am completely obsessed with making Farmer’s Wife blocks.

This giveaway is open to US residents only. To win, please leave comment of what kind of handmades are you making for Christmas presents this year. The giveaway will be open until Friday, December 16 at 5 PM PST. Thanks for stopping by and good luck!

Oh, and don’t forget to check out more fabulous giveaway over here.

Thank you for the name suggestions! I have so many wonderful options, but I definitely see naming my Blythe from one of those names. Aaaaand the winner is Amanda! She said:

I love Mo! And I would name your new little lady ‘Hannah’. I am really crushing on that name right now (And wishing I had another baby to name!)

Thanks for your fun giveaway!

Look for my email in your inbox, Amanda!

It’s that time again, the Giveaway Day at Sew Mama Sew! I missed last year’s giveaway, but I am ready for this year. Soooo… here’s what I got for you: a handmade Christmas ornament. It’s a cute little bird made from wool felt and cotton fabric, trimmed with a mini rick rack to hang on your tree. Please choose between Mo (the blue bird) or Ella (the gray bird).

To sweeten the deal, how about some fat quarters too?

The giveaway is open internationally. Please leave a comment, one per person, please. To make it more fun, suggest a name for my new Blythe. She is sadly still nameless, but I’ve made a couple of cute outfits for her that I still need to take pictures of. She’s wearing a new dress here, made from Alexander Henry Dagmar fabric.

I’ll keep the giveaway open until next Monday oops, you’re supposed to mail it out on Monday. So I’ll close the comments on Friday midnight EST and announce Saturday. Thanks for stopping by and please don’t let my girl be nameless forever!

PS: don’t forget to check out all the other giveaways too. Here, here, and here.

Thanks so much for your help! Thank you all so much for your heart warming donations and participation in our first { Modern } Relief fundraiser in support of World Vision’s efforts to end hunger! We have now collected an amazing $5700.00!! The raffle was closed on 12:00pm PST (12/1/10), however you can locate information regarding World Vision efforts and how you can continue to support their mission throughout the entire year through their website at worldvision.

We will be announcing the winners and Grand Total of the Raffle within the next 2 weeks!

I’ve been absent for so long! My excuse this time is I’m sooo busy sewing for a craft fair that’s coming up in two weeks. Gaahh… I’m pretty sick of sewing right now, I don’t even have time to play with my new girl. But I’m not even halfway done with my sewing goals, I just have to keep chugging along and be my own cheerleader. Yay me!

Do you have any plans this Thanksgiving? Any charity events coming up? How about this one? Heather has gathered some people (including me!) to donate quilts for a good cause. There’s some lovely quilts to be won! Please read on…

{ Modern } Relief is a simple concept. We are Modern Quilters uniting through the holiday season by bringing the warmth of our quilts and the warmth of your hearts together for others in need. This season, 2010, we will be supporting World Vision. We hope YOU will join us in taking a stand against hunger by participating in our fundraising raffle. Please let me introduce to you World Vision.

World Vision is leading the effort to end hunger.

In the next seven seconds, another hungry child will die.

World Vision is on the front lines of the fight against hunger. Today — and every day — we’ll distribute nearly 600 metric tons of emergency food aid, nourishing the hungry. We’ll give local farmers the seeds, tools, and training they need to grow their own food and feed their own communities. And we will plead the cause of the hungry in halls of power all over the world.

Please join us in creating a world without hunger — a world in which no child dies for want of nutritious food. This site offers in-depth information on hunger, its causes, and how it can be stopped. You can learn more about key hunger-related issues and share what you discover with friends and family. Use this link to begin your journey.

Please meet the members of this season’s event and view their donations that they have generously provided to this fundraiser raffle.

We THANK you!

It’s been great attending the Quilt Market! I’ve uploaded a bunch of pictures in my Flickr stream here.

… I am sorry I have been neglecting you for so long. I’s just that summer has completely taken me by surprise. I’ve read so many trashy novels and have not spend that many time behind the machine. I did get a new rotary cutter, a walking foot, and a quilting foot. I quilted two mini quilts and a baby quilt. I put on binding on one of the mini quilt. I finished knitting on a cardigan. I browsed Ravelry endlessly to find a new project to cast on.

Last Saturday, I also took a three hour class at my sewing machine dealer. All the other ladies are at least my mom’s age or older. What, no young person buy a Bernina? Or maybe no young person who buy Bernina felt the need to take basic classes other than me? It is apretty basic class and I yawned a lot during the class and I have the lowest end of machine, haha… the teacher was explaining this stitch and that stitch and she looked at me and said, “Ooh, you don’t have that stitch? I guess you’ll have to do it the traditional way then.”

I’m almost tempted to upgrade my 210 to the 230 right then and there, but NO. I stand by my basic low end Bernina. I did learn some new things like how to take things on and off properly and how to oil and clean my Bernina so I am glad I came. I also get a 20% discount on the day of my class. That is THE main reason I joined the class.

Oh, and I also made that spiderweb block up there for Heather. My first spiderweb block ever!
